What is Living is Giving?

Living is Giving is the New South Wales Synod program which links congregations’ giving and mission planning with the mission and ministry of the whole Uniting Church, at home and abroad.

Living is Giving gives congregations (and individuals) a genuine opportunity to make some choices about where they direct their giving beyond their local church, and to support projects that reflect their convictions and passions. It provides a way for congregations to be connected, in mission together, seeking to be God’s people in Australia and beyond.

Why is it important?

Funds from Living is Giving are used to support the church’s worship life and provide resources for congregations large and small, for traditional, emerging, indigenous and cross-cultural ministries, for theological education, for school and tertiary ministry, and to advocate for those suffering disadvantage or without a voice in the community. There’s a whole range of mission focus areas your congregation can support, or you can contribute to a general contribution (undesignated) fund, which provides important support to the overall mission of the Uniting Church.

How can I support it?

By setting aside a thoughtful proportion of your congregation's annual income — whether designated or undesignated — you become an important partner in the whole work of the Uniting Church. By choosing mission focus areas, your congregation participates in specific mission opportunities initiated by presbyteries, Synod and the Assembly.
